Ince Church of England Primary School ‘Inspire, Nurture, Challenge, Enrich’

Absence, Late and Leave of Absence Procedures

If your child is absent from school, no matter what the reason may be, the school MUST be notified on the first day of absence as well as on the subsequent days, until they return to school.  Please notify us as soon as possible before the beginning of the school day.

Holidays during term time will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances.

If your child is absent from school without authorisation for a sustained period, the Education Welfare Service will be informed.

It is important that children are punctual so that they do not miss the beginning of each school day. This time can be important because information is often given out which ensures the smooth running of the day and helps pupils feel part of the school community.

  • The school opens at 8.45am and pupils should be in school at this time.  It is essential that your child is ready for registration at 8.55am prompt.  All entrances with the exception of the main school entrance will be closed at 8.55am.

  • Pupils arriving after this time will have to report to the office where their names will be entered into the “late book” to enable us to monitor punctuality and attendance.

  • The “late book” is monitored daily to identify the pupils who are persistently late.

  • If your child is persistently late you will be invited to a meeting with school staff to discuss the situation and support will be offered if appropriate.

Requests for Leave of Absence

Headteachers may not grant leave unless there are exceptional circumstances.  Please use the attached Leave of Absence Request Form and hand it in to the school office.

Please see our Spring School Partial Closure Newsletter - thank you for all of your support during these challenging times.
